EXCITEMENT from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship General Assembly held recently in Louisville, KY, continues with the Celebration at Providence Baptist Church on Sunday, August 17, at the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Providence is celebrating its first anniversary. Providence Baptist Church wants to continue "Blessing the Future," which was the theme of the 1997 Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) General Assembly, where attendees were blessed with music, prayer, and teaching. Founded in 1996, Providence Baptist Church strives to preserve traditional Baptist beliefs and Baptist heritage and is affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship for participating in global missions. The mission of Providence is to worship and work together for effective missions and ministry. Marshall Gupton, Assistant Chaplain at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, became pastor of Providence Baptist Church on March 30, 1997. He will lead worshipers this Sunday morning in celebrating both the past year and the coming year of serving together. The sermon title is "Living Dangerously Faithful," based upon the scriptures in Luke 9: 23-25; 57-62. Howard Olive, Tennessee Field Representative for the CBF will again join in leading the fellowship celebration, as he did for the first worship service on August 11, 1996. Many people have been significant in the founding and development of Providence Baptist Church. A joyful celebration is planned, including a picnic after the worship service. All are invited to attend this anniversary worship service and fellowship on Sunday, August 17, at 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning worship services of Providence Baptist Church are held at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center Education Center at 36 W. Broad Street, beside Cookeville Cablevision. For more information, call 372-8612 or 526-5304. |
