Providence Baptist Church is pleased to announce that Rev. Marshall Gupton of LaVergne, Tennessee, is serving as pastor of PBC. On March 30, 1997, Providence held its first Easter worship service, and Rev. Gupton began serving as pastor.

Currently Assistant Chaplain at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Rev. Gupton was pastor of Una Baptist Church in LaVergne for eleven years and previously pastored churches in Camden and Springfield, Tennessee. Active in Baptist life in Tennessee, Gupton has served as President of the Executive Board of the Tennessee Baptist Convention and as Vice Chairman of the Budget Committee. An experienced pastor and church administrator, he also has authored study materials for Home Life, The Baptist and Reflector, and other Baptist publications.

Originally from Hixson, Tennessee, Gupton completed degrees at the University of Chattanooga and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and attended Vanderbilt Divinity School. He is married to Lynda Maynard Gupton, who teaches gifted students in the Rutherford County School District. They have two daughters, Valerie Landkammer, a resident of Nashville, and Kristin Gupton, a student at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

The Providence family welcomes Marshall and Lynda Gupton, and we look forward to serving and growing together!
